Arua Police has netted 10 suspected robbers that have for long tormented the district dwellers since 2017.
The most areas that have suffered the wrath of these merciless goons are; Olevu and Anzuu villages.
In a clandestine operation, 10 suspects were arrested, two Ak47 guns recovered with over 56 rounds of ammunition.
“Six motorcycles were stolen out of which two were recovered and one Afeku Festo was murdered by the robbers at Ala Bridge, in Vurra Sub County on 17th/03/2018,” said West Nile Regional Police spokesperson, Angucia Josephine before adding that;
“Joint operations were carried out by police and the district security committee leading to the arrests and recovery of the guns.”
This website understands that after robbing the motorcycles, suspects could disassemble them and sell spares at Gagaa market in Arua town.
The recovered rifles are; UG UPDF 48014686 with 28rounds of ammunition and NO.56_118088598 with 28rounds of ammunition.
Suspect’s names have been withheld to assist with investigations into the matter under Arua CRB 557/2018, CRB 900/2018, and Vurra CRR 05/2018.
