US Issues Terror Alert Ahead of Nyege Nyege Festival

The US Mission in Uganda has issued a security alert to its citizens ahead of the Nyege Nyege Festival that will be held in Jinja City from 9th to 12th November 2023.

“Due to increased terrorist activity, U.S. Embassy Kampala recommends that individuals exercise an elevated degree of caution and reconsider attendance at upcoming large public gatherings, such as large-scale worship services and music and cultural festivals in Kampala and Jinja,” reads the message on the Embassy website.

The message further reads; “Additionally, be mindful when visiting locations where people tend to gather such as hotels, malls, and marketplaces.”

This year’s Nyege Nyege is being held in Jinja City Uganda on a brand new site encompassing ‘The Source of the Nile’ , Jinja Golf Course, Nile Park and the Jinja Agricultural Showground.
