Stephen Anyanya, a guard from Priority One Security group limited has taken his life after shooting a woman dead in Mayuge district.

Anyanya allegedly gunned down Sarah Ayaya at Bugadde Sacco Limited in Bugadde North village in Bugadde town council on Monday morning before turning the gun on himself.

He shot Ayaya three times in the head killing her instantly before shooting himself in the chest.

Ayaya was cleaning up her kiosk in front of her rented room just opposite Bugadde Sacco’s offices.

The deceased has been selling cassava chips and was a friend of her killer.

Fred Mugoya, the LC 1 chairperson of Bugadde North village, says that he heard three gunshots in the morning and decided to open his house to establish what was happening.

He explains that on noticing him, Anyanya fired two live ammunition in the air so as to scare him off before shooting himself in the chest.

According to Mugoya, Ayaya and the killer guard were seen exchanging pleasantries on Sunday evening, as she served him tea and cassava crisps while other vendors in the trading center cheered them on.

Ayaya’s landlord, Florence Kiiza, says that the two had a sexual relationship.

She, however, says that trouble started when Anyanya caught the deceased engaging in a phone conversation with her husband leading to a fierce fight, which seemed to have been resolved, only to receive news about the shooting.

The Busoga East police spokesperson, Diana Nandawula, says that the deceased’s bodies are lying at Mayuge health center IV mortuary, pending postmortem and further enquiries.
