Bobi Wine to Museveni: ICC is waiting for you over gross abuse of human rights

2 Mins read

Following president Museveni’s address to the nation regarding security, the leader of the National Unity Platform(NUP), Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has lashed out at the president on what he said he was speaking like an opposition leader against his own regime.

According to Bobi Wine, Museveni’s speech was because of the amount of pressure against his regime by Ugandans whom he said are tried and now seeking for a country that respects human rights.

In his address at the weekend, President Museveni warned security agencies against disrespecting the human rights of Ugandans and other people in the country, stating that the NRM doesn’t believe in beating people for any reason.

“Nobody should be in the uniform of the army when they don’t respect the people of Uganda. When you’re in the army don’t bark at people, don’t beat people or even criminals. Don’t beat children. Nobody should beat any Ugandan. Human rights of the people of Uganda were one of main reasons why NRM went to bush and fought for all those years, ”said Museveni

“Every soldier and policeman listening to me and any Ugandan should know that is the position of the NRA and Constitution of Uganda. No one should be in the uniform of the army if you can’t respect the people of Uganda. Don’t bark at people. That is not a people’s army. Don’t beat members of the public or even criminals. You are not allowed to beat anyone.”

The president also warned security against beating members of the public while enforcing Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures saying it is unacceptable.

Commenting after the address, Bobi Wine said that it was unfortunate that Ugandans have such a hypocrite in charge of their country.

“How can he even speak blatant lies with a straight face? I can imagine how the victims of his brutality feel as they watch him shamelessly spew out lies, completely unconcerned about their plight”.

Bobi Wine reechoed a message of solidarity to all victims of torture, illegal detentions and abductions, and assured them that there will be a day of justice.

“There will be justice for all who have been assassinated and murdered in cold blood by his regime of blood. He knows what awaits him; seeing his friend Omar Bashir in the ICC waiting lounge! Nothing, absolutely nothing will save him from the fate of all despots, past and present,”

Bobi Wine cited a video where General Museveni expressed happiness when Kyagulanyi and others were severely beaten in Arua by the Special Forces unit.

He also cited the Kasese massacre where Gen Museveni ordered Lt Gen Peter Elwelu to command an operation against the Mumbere, killing hundreds of people.

He said that Museveni will not just simply run away without facing the law for all the crimes he has committed against humanity.

Bobi Wine also warned all those that are dealing with Museveni to mistreat Ugandans adding that they will all board the same plane to the ICC for judgment.
