Over 2,000 NRM Aspirants Pick Nomination Forms

The NRM electoral commission has confirmed that over 2,054 aspirants have expressed interest in contesting for LC V and Member of Parliament positions on the NRM ticket.

Speaking to the media,the NRM electoral commission chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi said this is a sign of victory come 2021. 

“‘The total by the close of business on  2,054 had picked nomination forms and that shows the massive number of NRM. If we translate that into votes,NRM has already got 2,054 votes as people Power is still debating what its name should be,”Odoi said. 

Tanga said 584 picked forms for district women member of parliament, 1,112 picked forms for constituency members of parliament and 46 for  interest group 

He also said all aspirants for district chairpersons and Members of Parliament must have certificates showing that they tested negative of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) before they are nominated.

Dr Odoi said the party is going to ensure that the Presidential directive is enforced.

Last week the President said all political aspirants must first test for the virus before they go to the population to canvass for votes.

This development follows the confirmation of a fifth COVID-19 death. It also comes at a time two senior employees at the NRM secretariat tested positive for the highly contagious virus.
