NRM Nominates Museveni As Presidential Flag Bearer for the 2021 General Elections

Uganda’s ruling party NRM has nominated President Museveni as national chairman and 2021 presidential flag-bearer for the 2021 general elections.

Museveni was officially nominated on Tuesday by the party Electoral Commission chairman Tanga Odoi.

The president’s nomination was seconded by NRM National Youth League chairman, Gaddafi Nassur.

After the nomination, Museveni spoke saying the priority now should be about saving lives from the dangerous COVID-19.

“I am amazed at how some people mix up issues. Some people have been talking about business, money, jobs when the issue globally is life. We want to save life. This is the biggest challenge,” Museveni said.

President Museveni has repeatedly urged Ugandans to take the Covid-19 disease seriously.

He advocated for strict adherence to the Standards of Operation (SOPs) agreed upon by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Ministry of Health (MoH) as crucial to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

These SOPs include washing hands frequently, maintaining a social distance of at least two metres while out in public and wearing a face mask at all times when interacting with other people outside one’s home.
