The Minister for Kampala Beti Olive Kamya has said that the People Power Movement led by Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and People’s Government led by Dr. Kizza Besigye should be banned noting that their activities aim at inciting violence.
She said that the two political organisations are busy inciting violence and their activities undermine the spirit of multipartyism which Uganda adopted in 2005 as the chosen system of governance.
Her comments come shortly after the story about a man identified as Adens Natare who dragged MP Robert Kyagulanyi and FDC’s Kizza Besigye to court for operating their political organizations illegally.
“I support that gentleman (Ntare) petitioning court to declare People Power unconstitutional. They aren’t registered anywhere yet they want to continue operating and disrupting peace,” she said.
Speaking on TOP radio, she noted that these organisations are not registered which make them illegal and their grouping intend to destabilise peace in the country.
“Unregistered political organizations like People Power and People’s government should be banned since they use leadership to incite violence,” she said.
She noted that the two political leaders are running unregistered political organizations which are non conforming to the laws.
“As a country we went into multiparty dispensation but these people are undermining it. How does the state and its lawful organs relate with them without them being legally defined, who are they answerable to?” She asked.
She also said that Bobi Wine is uninformed about the issues regarding the nation.
“He does not understand fiscal policy on which a country is run, how can he be the president? President Museveni and Dr. Kizza Besigye have a lot of knowledge,” she said.
She further noted that Bobi Wine has just joined politics but wants everyone in the opposition to join him.
“At least Dr Kizza Besigyye has been in the struggle for over 20 years and the same applies to President Museveni,” she noted.
