Military Deploys Heavily In Downtown Kampala

1 Mins read

The Police and military have deployed heavily in downtown Kampala to quell the situation after another day of protests by traders at Qualicell Bus terminal, in solidarity with one of their own whose shop was found closed this morning.

The protest started after Drake Lubega, one of the businessmen contesting ownership of Qualicell Bus Terminal closed the shop of one of the traders on Thursday morning.

This was after a trader had refused to pay rent arrears and a rent fee hike announced by Drake Lubega.

The traders say that Drake Lubega wants them to pay rent for the last four months when the late Charles Muhanagi was still in charge of the building, something they don’t adhere to and they locked their shops in protest against Drake leadership.

Police and UPDF soldiers are currently patrolling and guarding the area around Qualicell Bus Terminal
