1 Mins read

Striking Taxi drivers today morning blocked Museveni Convoy that was from Nakasero to State house, Entebbe.

The Taxi drivers were protesting payment of fees to KCCA since thet pay annually for their vehicles.

The President’s convoy was forced to stop because the road was blocked along Clock Tower.

The president talked to the Striking Taxi drivers and promised to meet them soon such that the matter is resolved.

This website understands that Ministry of Local Government issued a directive after the presidential order banning all the daily collections.

According to the directive, all the taxi and bus owners were only asked to pay statutory fees charged by either the Uganda Revenue Authority, or the Transport Licensing Board.

KCCA still insists that that all road users within Kampala have to pay tax in accordance with the Kampala Capital City (Commercial Road Users) Regulations, 2015.
