Spokesperson\nUganda Police, Fred Enanga has said that the Special Investigation Directorate\nunder the Criminal Investigations Directorate has taken over inquiries into the\ncase of incitement to violence through social media by Andrew Mukasa of Bajjo\nEvents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Enanga\nnoted that the case relates to the comments he made in \u201cLuganda\u201d local language\nand circulated online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said when translated, Bajjo events warns President\nMuseveni of their plans to oust him before the year 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nfurther added that Bajjo warns the\nmilitary of similar plans to oust the President<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nsaid Bajjo indicated with confidence how he had people backing him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe\nsuspect consciously ran the risk of being charged for inciting violence,\ntreason or misprision of treason, since the law protects the honour of the\nPresident as a democratically elected leader.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The\nSecurity Forces wish to warn all individuals and groups, that posting videos\nglorifying violence using undemocratic means is an infringement on the law,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nadvised the public not to share such videos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nnoted that Police as a law enforcement agency, shall work constructively with\nall stakeholders to understand the dangers of incitement of violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We\nare also aware of attempts by those who patronize the suspect to divert the\nattention of the public and investigators from the major investigation, by\ndragging the person of the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP), into the\narrest of Andrew Mukasa,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nadded: \u201cWe want to put it clear that the private car number plates indeed\nbelong to our sister agency who logistically supported the police\noperation. Such number plates when the\nsituation demands, can be used to achieve tactical or operational results”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nnoted that the Deputy Inspector General of Police last used those number plates\nin May, 2018, while appearing before the Parliamentary Appointments Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nsaid he has since been allocated an official police vehicle and now has no\nattachment to that private numbers plate. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The\ninvestigations will continue and the suspect will be handled in accordance with\nthe laws of the country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
