The\nChief Executive Officer, Uganda Tourism Board, Lilly Ajarova has joined the list\nof other prominent Ugandans who have voiced out their objection to the giving\nout of Murchison falls to an investor to generate electricity by Electricity\nRegulatory Authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking\nto the media on Thursday in Kampala, Ajarova noted that destruction of\nMurchison falls is the destruction of tourism which earns the country so much\nforeign exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe\nexperience of Murchison falls can be done from different points, one, you a\nboat to the bottom of the falls. Two, there is a trend where you walk up to the\ntop of falls and it is just an amazing\nview, \u201cshe said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\ndescribed the Murchison experience as being exceptional and it has been one of\nthe exceptional natural features in Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe\nproposals to get Hydroelectric power develop on that falls, from the tourism\npoint of view is a bad idea,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\nurged all the Ugandans protesting the move to join the formal fight by writing\nto Electricity Regulatory Authority showing why sanctity of the national assets\nmust be protected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf\nyou feel ERA should not move ahead with this project then put it in writing and\nofficially submit your objection to them, \u201cshe said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\nfurther added that writing to Electricity Regulatory Authority is the only way\nthey will be able to know that what the public feel is, what the different\nstake holders feel about this project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe\nmost important thing is, let\u2019s make it formal so that we can ensure that\nMurchison falls continues to be, \u201cshe said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
