KCCA\nacting director Eng. Andrew Kitaka has noted that Kampala Capital City\nAuthority has made remarkable achievements in various sectors of physical\nplanning, transport and road infrastructure, education sector, revenue\ncollection and gender production, community services sector since its formation\neight years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While\naddressing journalists at Uganda Media Centre in Kampala on Tuesday, Kitaka\nrevealed that Kampala Capital City Authority carried out a major institutional\nreform to strengthen service delivery and attracted high skilled personnel to\nplan and execute the city development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nsaid KCCA opened several health centres including Bukoto, Kawaala, Kisugu among\nothers which have improved the health services in terms of child immunization, tuberculosis\ntreatment, maternity among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cKCCA\nhas recorded a very high rate of child immunization is about 100%, actually we\nhave measured it at 146% because these include the refugee population in\nKampala, and this is clearly above the national target,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nstated that Kampala is now in category one of the World Health Organisation standard\nand Kampala was recognized as the most improved district in TB treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nalso added that over 210km of roads have been upgraded and over 500km of gravel\nroads maintained while 48 roads are under construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cKCCA\nhas also been able to reconfigure and reinstall responsive traffic signals at\n21 locations and these include Nakawa, Nateete, Wandegeya, Fairway, Bwaise, Kira\nroad, Kololo airstrip, Katikati among others,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nsaid all those roads have junctions fitted with new traffic signals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
