The\nSecretary General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), Mr Akbar\nKhan, is impressed by Uganda\u2019s readiness to host the 64th Commonwealth\nParliamentary Conference (CPC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr\nKhan made the remarks at a meeting with Members and staff of Parliament on\nFriday, 7 June 2019 to appreciate the progress of preparations to host the\nconference taking place from 22nd to 29th September 2019 in Kampala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe\nplanning looks very positive and all we need is to move to the venues and\nallocate meeting areas appropriately so that people with disabilities are well\ntaken care of,\u201d he noted, adding that, \u201cWe need to make sure we set the bar for\nthe next meeting,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nUganda Branch Representative for CPA Africa Region and also Vice Chairperson of\nthe Organising Committee of the 64th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference,\nHon. Jalia Bintu said the Government of Uganda had ring fenced finances of the\nconference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\nhave secured money from the government to facilitate the event and set up\ncommittees to make sure protocol, media, transportation and accommodation are\ntaken care of,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nSecretary General, who is on a working visit to Uganda, said a special magazine\nfor the 64th CPC would be published.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hon. Paul Amoru, the Chairperson of the Media and Publicity Subcommittee informed the meeting that his sector was on course with preparations to broadcast the event in both local and international audiences on print, electronic and social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
