{"id":9572,"date":"2019-06-05T17:16:11","date_gmt":"2019-06-05T14:16:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=9572"},"modified":"2019-06-05T17:16:15","modified_gmt":"2019-06-05T14:16:15","slug":"gianni-infantino-is-re-elected-as-fifa-president-until-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2019\/06\/05\/gianni-infantino-is-re-elected-as-fifa-president-until-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Gianni Infantino is re-elected as FIFA President until 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The 69th FIFA Congress convened today in Paris and, by acclamation, re-elected Gianni Infantino as the President of FIFA until 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ninth president in the history of the organisation was first elected at an Extraordinary Congress in February 2016 and now starts his first full four-year term of office after running unopposed and being elected by acclamation by FIFA\u2019s 211 member associations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn\u00a0just over three years, this organisation went from being toxic, almost criminal, to being what it should be: an institution that develops football,\u201d said Infantino when addressing the Congress. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis new FIFA has a mission and a plan for it, which is why the next four years have, in fact, already started: we have laid solid building blocks for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FIFA\u2019s supreme legislative body approved the\u00a0Activity Report\u00a0and\u00a0financial\u00a0statements for 2018, as well as the detailed budget for 2020, which includes USD 810 million allocated to investments in football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 70th FIFA Congress will be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in May 2020.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 69th FIFA Congress convened today in Paris and, by acclamation, re-elected Gianni Infantino as the President of FIFA until 2023.
