Uganda\nPolice has on Tuesday 28th issued guidelines for both school going children and\npilgrims on security particularly on the highways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police\nstated that security on highways has been intensified to manage the increased\ntraffic caused by pilgrims, and school going children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“As\nwe all are aware the official school opening for term two was on Monday 27th.\nMay, 2019,” Polly Namaye deputy Police spokesperson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She added that many children and their parents\non the first day of reporting to school was very successful, without any\nreports of serious offences except for congestion along routes in Kampala city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The\npublic is particularly encouraged to plan their movements in time, and parents\nshould be mindful of the safety of their children in instances where public transport\nmeans are being used,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She advised parents to use banking services in\norder to prevent loss of property and fraud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We\nare closely monitoring the safety of pilgrims as they conclude the last leg of\ntheir walk to Namugongo Martyrs Shrines,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\nsaid that, in spite of the unfortunate accident involving Kenyan pilgrims last\nweek, Police continues to register successful arrival of pilgrims at Namugongo\nMartyrs Shrines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\nsaid Police has issued very clear instructions to area Police Commanders and\ntheir traffic officers to support safe movement of all road users and in\nparticular the safety of pilgrims and school going children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Traffic\nplans, vetting and accreditation are already ongoing as part of the security\nplans to ensure safety for all, as well as a smooth traffic flow during and\nafter this celebration,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
