Kyadondo\nEast Member of Parliament Bobi Wine was early Saturday forced to sign down by\nZimbabwean authorities indicating he was not going to sing any of his inciting\nsongs at the MDC Gweru elective congress where he was invited as main guest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nrevealed this while delivering his speech at the event late Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bobi\nWine, real name Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, got a taste of the hostile side of\nZimbabwean hospitality when he got detained for hours by authorities at the\nRobert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport when he touched down early morning\nfor the MDC event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs\nI was entering Zimbabwe at the airport, I had to sign, an understanding that I\nam not coming to Zimbabwe to sing,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\nunderstand it because in some countries one has to get permission because I am\nknown as a performer. I understood it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\nalso understood it because my music is not just entertainment. It is\nedutainment and that is why it has been banned in Uganda and other African\ncountries that fear revolution through music,\u201d said Wine, before singing a\nrendition of Giant Mama Land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apart\nfrom his revolutionary music that has unsettled Ugandan authorities, Bobi Wine\nis a popular politician, businessman, entrepreneur, philanthropist, freedom\nfighter and actor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wine\u2019s\nmusic contains lyrics which critique the manner in which Uganda and other\ncountries have been destroyed by dictatorship and corruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wine\nand Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) representatives Babu Owino and Edwin\nSifuna were detained at the airport for some two hours by state security agents\nwho went on to demand that ODM secretary general Owino disclose to them\ncontents of the speech he was going to deliver at the same event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\ntold them that I carry a message from my president, Raila Odinga and they can\nlisten to my address today,\u201d said Owino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Odinga\nand late MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai were close friends while their parties\nenjoyed mutual respect, having been in almost exact situations in Kenya and\nZimbabwe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the Gweru event, a group of ZANLA liberation fighters pledged their allegiance to the MDC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
