CNOOC Uganda, an\noil and gas company has today recognized and awarded one hundred and twenty (120) best Performing Hoima students\nat PLE, UCE and UACE level under its Corporate Social Responsibility Program\ncode-named \u201cCNOOC Best Performer\u2019s Award\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The CNOOC Best Performers Award was inaugurated in 2012, with an aim of encouraging better performance to the students in Hoima District. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To date, the Program has rewarded 420 students as follows (in 2013-60 were rewarded in 2014, 90 were rewarded annually in \u00a02015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and this year, 2019, 120 more students will be rewarded which will bring the cumulative total of BPA beneficiaries to 540 students at PLE, UCE and UACE levels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Awarding the students with prize money and certificates is a move to motivate them particularly those below and getting to the candidate classes and this indirectly contributes to improved performance of students in Hoima District in regard to national standings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hoima district is currently experiencing rapid development and CNOOC Uganda believes that the better the youth are prepared and the education sector transformed, the more the residents shall benefit from the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A total of 8,000 US Dollars an equivalent of around UGX 30,000,000\/= (Thirty Million Uganda Shillings) has been awarded to the best performing students this year, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These students were selected by the office of the District Education Officer, Hoima and Kikuube Districts based on the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CNOOC Uganda shall continue\nawarding the best performers to reaffirm its willingness to be good neighbors\nwith communities in the area of operation and to achieve a win-win situation\nwith its stakeholders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ceremony was presided over by the Minister of State for Bunyoro Affairs, Hon. Ernest Kiiza Apuuli, as a Chief Guest who commended CNOOC Uganda your unwavering support to the communities especially in the area of operation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also congratulated the award winners along with their parents and teachers and urged the students to continue working hard at their next level of education and always consider giving back to the community so that those who come after them can receive the same support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
