\u201cI\ncongratulate His Grace Archbishop Bakyenga for being installed as the first Chancellor\nthe University. He is not being installed by virtue of his position in Church.\nBut more importantly, it is because of his effort that we are all here.\nTogether we win,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n President Museveni commended the efforts of Archbishop Bakyenga for the development made in terms of educational institutions for the community on Nyamitanga hill. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He observed that the University of St. Joseph, Mbarara is going to give knowledge to more Ugandans. He further commended Archbishop Bakyenga for his patriotism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The\nPresident said that the NRM Government\u2019s principle of unity has contributed\nimmensely to the development of the national economy, the education and health\nsectors, among others, on the basis of private sector-led growth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He\nsaid that out of 59 universities and higher institutions of learning in the\ncountry, only nine are government owned adding that the trend serves as evidence\nof the good that belies the private sector led economy,\u201d he observed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n State\nMinister for Higher Education, Hon. John Chrysostom Miyingo revealed that under\nthe NRM Government, the level of education in the country has grown\ntremendously especially that of the girl child adding that in the past, girls\noccupied only two per cent in education but as of now they constitute 44.5 per\ncent at university level. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Hon.\nMuyingo commended the administration of the University of St. Joseph for\nintroducing new and unique education programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In his submission, Archbishop Bakyenga said the University of Saint Joseph uniqueness lies in its ability to deliver relevant, affordable, high quality, inclusive and community responsive education with emphasis on innovations, entrepreneurship and community engagement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He stressed the need for Uganda to establish more universities to serve the academic aspirations of the 41 million Ugandans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTraining increases professional practices, helps to avoid shoddy, substandard work in service delivery because we want people with talents in our society to enable the country meet its current and future challenges,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" President Yoweri Museveni has inaugurated the University of Saint Joseph, Mbarara (USJM) and contributed Shs.200 million towards the construction of a 3-storeyed building that the institution is trying to put on Nyamitanga Hill in Mbarara Municipality.
