NWSC\nhas been announced utility Distinction Water Leader during the Global Water\nAwards 2019 held at the Natural History Museum London, United Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Each\nyear, the Global Water Awards are presented at the Global Water Summit, the\nmajor business conference for the water industry worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Established\nin 2006 by Global Water Intelligence, the awards recognise the most important\nachievements in the international water industry within several categories, and\nreward those initiatives in the water, wastewater and desalination sectors that\nare moving the industry forward through improved operating performance, innovative\ntechnology adoption and sustainable financial models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nWater Leaders\u2019 Award goes to the publicly owned utility from a developing\ncountry that is able to demonstrate an outstanding step-change in performance\nimprovement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022Aguas\nBonaerenses S.A Argentina <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022Instabul\nWater and Sewerage Admjnstaration (ISKI), Turkey<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022National\nWater and Sewerage Corporation, Uganda<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022National\nWater Commision, Jamaica<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In\naddition, NWSC was recognised for its efforts to transform the utility into\nsub-Saharan Africa\u2019s most banakable water utility after securing the\ncontinent\u2019s highest ever credit rating for the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
South\nAfrica\u2019s Global Credit Ratings Co assigned NWSC a long term national scale\nissuer rating of AA (UG) and a short term rating of A1+(UG).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This\nis the second time NWSC is receiving the Distinction Water Leaders Award,\nhaving won the same prestigious award in Paris 4 years back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking\nat the award ceremony, Dr. Eng Silver Mugisha attributed the award to the\nsupport from the Government of Uganda, the Board and committed staff at NWSC\nand corporation customers who support the utility by paying bills promptly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We\nare aggressively extending our network to serve more people in the country. In\naddition, we we working on water supply stabilization plans to address all wate\nsupply challenges in the network and large infrastructure service delivery\nprojects aimed at improving access to clean safe water and sanitation services\nin Uganda.” he said<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
