The\ndeputy speaker of Parliament Hon Jacob Oulanyah has asked government to present\na comprehensive statement on remarks uttered by Uganda’s ambassador to Burundi\nMaj. Gen. Matayo Kyaligonza in which he allegedly insulted parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oulanyah’s\ndirective followed a statement by the First Deputy Prime Minister, Gen. Moses\nAli who asked legislators to stop demanding for the recall of Ambassador Matayo\nKyaligonza from Burundi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nadvised Members of Parliament to instead focus on their legislative duties and\nleave the issue of sanctioning Kyaligonza to Army Generals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kyaligonza\nwas accused in February this year together with his guards of assaulting Esther\nNamaganda, a female traffic police officer in Seeta in Mukono District for\ntrying to stop his driver from making a U-turn on a wrong way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Parliament\nresolved on February 27th, 2019 to recall Kyaligonza from his diplomatic duties\nin Burundi for his unbecoming behaviour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nGeneral in a TV interview on Monday slammed parliament for passing such a\nresolution and described MPs as stupid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nRukungiri Municipality MP, Roland Mugume Kaginda presented the CD recording of\nKyaligonza in parliament yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kaginda\nurged parliament to halt the consideration of the ministerial policy statement\nfor the Foreign Affairs Ministry for the 2019\/2020 financial year until the\nexecutive implements the resolution that Kyaligonza is recalled from diplomatic\nservice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
