In\na letter signed by deputy spokesperson of Uganda Police, Polly Namaye, the\nunknown gunmen put the tourists on gun point, and grabbed two out of four\ntourists, before disappearing with them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Below is the full statement from\nUganda Police<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The\nPolice has dispatched an elite squad from the Tourism Police, to reinforce the\nsecurity teams at Queen Elizabeth National Park, and actively pursue, a group\nof 04 unknown gunmen who allegedly kidnapped an American and a Ugandan senior\nguide who were on an evening game drive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n This\nincident occurred yesterday, Tuesday 2. April, 2019, along the Edward track, a\nsection located between Katoke gate and Wideness Camp in the park between 6 \u2014 7\npm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The\nunknown gunmen put the tourists on gun point, and grabbed two out of four\ntourists, before disappearing with them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The\nvictims include Kimbley Sue Endecott female 35 years and Jean Paul the driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The\nremaining tourists, an elderly couple of Martin Julius and his wife Barbel\ncontacted to the camp manager, who rescued them and they are very safe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The\nAmerican Embassy in Kampala, has been informed about its missing citizen and\nthe efforts directed towards his safe recovery and that of our tour guide. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The\nkidnappers, using the victim’s phone have demanded 500000 USD. <\/p>\n\n\n\n We\nstrongly believe this ransom is the reason behind the kidnap. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The\ntourists were travelling in motor vehicle registration number UAR 777E of World\nFrontiers Safaris Uganda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Their\nvehicle was left parked and the kidnappers went away with the key. <\/p>\n\n\n\n We\nwant to inform the public and all visitors in the country that the Joint\nSecurity teams, have cut off all exit areas on the border between Uganda and\nthe DRC in search for the victims, since the park is along the border. <\/p>\n\n\n\n We\nstrongly believe the perpetrators, and victims could still be trapped within\nour search area, and we are hopeful that our efforts will lead to their\nsuccessful recovery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n We\nwant to further reassure the public that this is the first of incident of this\nkind registered in such a very peaceful setting, and those planning to visit\nthe National Park and its surroundings should not be discouraged.
