Police\nhas on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, admitted that Ronald Ssebulime was illegally\nkilled by their own for being suspected to have been in a plot of assassinating\nthe State Minister for Information Communication Technology, Idah Nantaba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While\naddressing the media at the Police headquarters in Naguru on Wednesday Police\nSpokesperson Fred Enanga said their officers submitted false reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police\nSpokesperson Fred Enanga said police officers that were in charge gave in false\ninformation about events surrounding the killing of Ssebulime and have been\narrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They\nwill face murder charges in courts of law. \u201cThe case will now be treated as\nmurder,\u201d Enanga stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr.\nEnanga has also revealed that Ssebulime only had eats and drinks in his bag a\nsign he was heading to school to visit his children on visitation day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The family of Ssebulime on Tuesday left the\ncity mortuary upset after police said they would not avail the post-mortem\nreport, which is ready, to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey\nsaid they would release it after burial,\u201d Ms Sylvia Nakkungu, a sister to late\nRonald Ssebulime, said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police\nsays it is true that the deceased was removed from the police pickup and\ninstantly shot dead by their officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\nregret that our initial media release of Sunday, 24th March 2019, surrounding\nthe drive by threats by Hon. Idah Nantaba was not totally accurate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\ntrue facts are that on Sunday, 24th March, 2019 the Hon. Minister Idah Nantaba\nwhile buying fruits at a roadside market around Ssinda, located 6 km after\nSezibwa bridge, saw a motor cycle rider, who from her instincts, appeared to be\na dangerous person. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nrider who was inquiring about the location of Kabimbiri, immediately after sped\noff at a high speed, towards Mukono direction, but was given a chase by the Hon\nMinister, up to Nagalama Police Station, where she alerted the police and also\ndropped her bodyguard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\nagain tried to give the suspected rider a further chase in the direction of\nMukono, but all in vain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However,\nthe 999 crew from Mukono that responded to the earlier emergency call from\nNagalama police station, intercepted the alleged suspects after they hit a road\nhump and fell off. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\ncrew concentrated on the rider Ssebulime who was carrying a bag, chased and\nafter a few warning shots in the air, the suspect stopped and surrendered to\nthe police, who arrested and led him to the police vehicle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nstranger, whom he was carrying, to guide him to St. Andrew Kaggwa for visitation,\nalso disappeared and was not traced. It is true that the deceased was removed\nfrom the police pickup and instantly shot dead by our officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\npolice has arrested the car commander and 02 crew members to the \u201c999\u201d patrol\nvehicle, under Registration number UP5745, for trying to conceal the true facts\nof the events surrounding the killing of Sebulime Ronald, after they submitted\nfalse reports about what really happened upon intercepting the suspects at\nNagojje trading center, on Sunday the 24th March 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\narrested officers include; No. 51543 Cpl Ssali Edward, who was the car\ncommander, No. 50162 PC Opira Ronald and No. 5729 PC Baganza Ronald. The other\ncrew member No. 62163 PC Cherotich Robert is still absent but wanted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nteam had responded to a complaint of a drive-by threat by the Hon Minister of\nState for ICT, Aida Nantaba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nPolice created a joint team of investigators from the Kampala Metropolitan East\nRegion and Homicide squad from CID headquarters, who upon further scrutiny of\nthe incident established new findings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\ncan now certainly say that, what was first reported as typical police shooting\nstory, where perceived dangerous suspects were shot at during a pursuit, is\nestablished to be a straight forward case, of murder. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\nare now holding the officers accountable for murder, conspiracy and for\nprofessional misconduct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\nare also using the incident as a test of leadership against the territorial\ncommanders, who failed to detect the true reality of what happened on that day,\nand forwarded a report that was not accurate, to their superiors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\nonce again extend our sympathies to the family of Ssebulime Ronald, who was\nshot and killed by our officer. His cause of death was due to hemorrhage\nfollowing gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nexhibits of a bag with eats and drinks belonging to the deceased; and the\npolice guns have been recovered, to aid in our investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\npolice does not condone any acts of extrajudicial nature, reason why we are\nholding the suspects accountable for the death of Ronald Ssebulime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\nalso want to thank the residents of Nagojje trading centre and the media for\nboldly bringing out the facts, about what really happened. Without their\nconcern, this would have been one case where the narrative from our first\nresponders could have defeated justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
