President Yoweri Museveni and\nCommander-in-Chief of the Uganda Armed Forces has advised soldiers of the\nUganda People\u2019s Defense Air Force (UPDAF) to master using and operating their\nequipment, co-operate in their squads and always train so that they are\nconfident in technology. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President said this today during the tour and inspection of the Entebbe Air Base in Entebbe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He called upon Army Officers to learn, understand and apply the principles of NRA wherever they are deployed bearing in mind theirs\u2019 is a liberation force that committed to serving the interests of Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He reiterated the importance of always\nfocusing on the interest of the country in order to cement further the\nfoundation of bringing about prosperity as opposed to identity along tribal\nchauvinism and feudalism as had been the case in nascent years of Uganda\u2019s\nindependence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes identity has got value but it\nshould never eclipse the interests of people. Banyankole cannot buy milk and\nbananas from each other because they already have them. What they need now is\nmoney to build their houses and take their children to school. They can only do\nthis through selling to other Ugandans. We, therefore, found out in our student\nmovement that Uganda was more important than Ankole,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He noted that as officers engaged in\nserving the country in the security sector, every other adult in the country must\nbe able to engage in the production of goods and services to serve society and\ncreate wealth for themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President urged Army Officers and\nmen to embrace the principles of patriotism and Pan-Africanism adding that the\nprosperity of Africa as a whole lies in the love of one\u2019s country and the continent\nas well as working for unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President also called on the Army\nto note that socio-economic transformation agenda was another principle that\nthey must study adding that Ugandans must wake up and abandon the old ways of\ndoing things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou can now see that the social\nmedia is more used than radios and televisions. Very soon, this old media will\nphase out because people read the news online and they no longer see the need\nfor newspapers. When you lag behind in science and technology, you disappear,\u201d he\nremarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He noted that socio-economic transformation was possible through education and that is why the NRM government had operationalized free education. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting was also attended, among others, by the CDF, Gen. David Muhoozi, Commander Air Forces, Maj. Gen. Charles Lutaaya, Deputy Commander Air Forces, Maj. Gen. Gavas Mugyenyi, Commander Engineering Brigde, Maj. Gen. Timothy Sabiiti Mutebile, Chief of Medical Services, Maj. Gen. Dr. Musinguzi, Chief Political Commissar, Brig. Henry Matsiko, Deputy CMI, Brig.
