The\ncontractors\u2019 local contraction has since consumed all the money and works have\nstalled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs\nwe speak now, the renovation of Mulago hospital is about 91 percent complete\nhowever it had stalled because of lack of funds,\u201d Sarah Opendi, Minister of Health\nstated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ug\nMirror has established that Ministry of Health has requested for Shs34 billion\nto complete the hospital in order to meet international standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey\nrequire $9million for them be able to complete the remaining work, this is what\nwe are waiting for from the Ministry Of Finance and if this money can be\navailed then we hope that by June we should be done by the renovation of Mulago\nspecialized hospital so that it can commence providing services to the Ugandans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\nfurther added that the country has qualified health professionals however\nfacilities are not provided for them to practice and provided health services\nto the population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister\nOpendi said that once the specialized hospital is completed, it will offer\nservices such as Kidney transplant, surgery and many others which Ugandans were\nseeking abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\nare talking of a facility that will accommodate over 2000 patients; the heart\ninstitute definitely will be using our facility before they get their own,\u201d she\nexplained<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\nadded that there are also oxygen pipes which have been not completed yet they\nnecessary and the intensive care unit is also not yet completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nministry of health has already submitted its supplementary budget to the\nministry of finance subject to the approval by parliament<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
