{"id":8741,"date":"2019-03-19T14:16:30","date_gmt":"2019-03-19T11:16:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=8741"},"modified":"2019-03-19T14:37:51","modified_gmt":"2019-03-19T11:37:51","slug":"over-30-boat-engines-stolen-by-congolese-militia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2019\/03\/19\/over-30-boat-engines-stolen-by-congolese-militia\/","title":{"rendered":"Over 30 Boat Engines Stolen By Congolese Militia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fishermen in Buliisa District have been left in shock\nafter over 30 boat engines were stolen by suspected Congolese militia last on\nMonday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 35 boat engines are yet to be recovered as more\neffort is being put in by Uganda Police<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking to some of the fishermen, they told Uganda Mirror\nthat some of the boat engines belong their customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNot only that we lost the product, we angered some of\nour customers and we have to replace their engines,\u201d one of the fishermen said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They were stolen when the suspected militia raided the\nlanding sites of Butiaba, Walukuba, Somsio and Wanseko. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They crossed to DR Congo with the robbed Engines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The militia have since been asking for a ransom of 1.5\nmillion shillings to have the boat engines returned to the owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;Julius Hakiza,\nthe Albertine region Police Spokesperson says that efforts are being made to\nhave the robbed boat engines returned to Ugandans at a free cost.\n\n\u201cWe\nare carrying out our investigation and we have hope that the boat engines that\nwere stolen will be recovered, \u201c he said.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \n\n\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fishermen in Buliisa District have been left in shock after over 30 boat engines were stolen by suspected Congolese militia last on Monday night.
