The UMSC Secretary General, Hon. Haji\nRamadhan Mugalu has reassured Muslims that UMSC is going to do everything\nwithin its powers to safeguard Muslim property allover Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said this while addressing\njournalists during a Press conference held today at his office at the UMSC\nHeadquarters Old Kampala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Honorable Mugalu was responding to\nreports of attempts by certain individuals to grab Muslim land in Mijeera, Nakasongola\nDistrict and other parts of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said in line with its land policy\nwhich came into force in 2014, UMSC will not tolerate any more personalization\nor grabbing of Muslim property by unscrupulous individuals or fake trusts\nhiding behind UMSC structures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He gave an example of a group calling\nitself Nateete Twale Muslim Community Ltd which grabbed 3 acres of Muslim Land\nin Nateete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He however, noted that UMSC is\nworking hard to recover this land under UMSC which is the rightful custodian of\nMuslim property in Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUMSC is the only body mandated to\nmanage and develop Muslim land in Uganda,\u201d he said quoting Article 10 Paragraph\n9(d) of the UMSC constitution which says that the UMSC Executive Committee\nshall have powers<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTo administer the property and\nfinances of the council; enter into or approve any agreement, loans, mortgages,\nor charges; approve any projects intended to generate funds for the council\n…\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He therefore urged Muslims to stay\ncalm and ignore those claiming to be fighting for UMSC properties yet they are\nthe very people behind the illegal sale and possession of Muslim property prior\nto the coming of the current UMSC administration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said anyone who is currently\noccupying Muslim property should provide accountability or vacate it, so that\nUMSC can develop it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo one will intimidate us because we\nhave the power and mandate to start any developmental project geared to improving\nthe social and economic welfare of the Muslims in Uganda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
