The\nEuropean Union-EU has provided Shs12 billion to support refugees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nover twelve-month project was launched at the Danish Refugee Council (DRC)\ncountry offices in Kampala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Funded\nthrough the European Union\u2019s Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations\ndepartment, the project is aimed at meeting the basic needs of over 3,500\nvulnerable households which include beddings, food, medication among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nproject is expected to benefit 18,000 individuals in the two settlements of\nKyaka II and Kyangwali, located in the Kyegegwa and Kikuube districts\nrespectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nsettlements continue to receive new arrivals of refugees fleeing violence in\nthe Democratic Republic of Congo-DRC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Isabelle\nD\u2019Haudt, the Head of EU Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations in\nUganda, says that their goal is to ensure that the most vulnerable refugees are\nsafe and that their basic needs are covered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur\naims and goals are to ensure the safety of all the vulnerable refugees and we\nshall make sure that all their basic needs are well covered,\u201d Isabelle said<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nproject, a consortium led by the Danish Refugee Council in Uganda in\npartnership with the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) and Action against Hunger\n(ACF) will also increase refugees resilience, and protect the environment in\nthe refugee camps.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
