{"id":8545,"date":"2019-03-10T12:03:37","date_gmt":"2019-03-10T09:03:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=8545"},"modified":"2019-03-10T12:03:43","modified_gmt":"2019-03-10T09:03:43","slug":"ethiopian-airliner-crashes-on-way-to-kenya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2019\/03\/10\/ethiopian-airliner-crashes-on-way-to-kenya\/","title":{"rendered":"Ethiopian airliner crashes on way to Kenya"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 passenger jet has crashed on a flight from Addis Ababa to Nairobi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The flight is believed to have had 149 passengers and eight crew members on board, the airline says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A spokesman said the crash happened at 08.44 local time on Sunday, shortly after take-off from the Ethiopian capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement, the airline said that search and rescue operations were under way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It did not provide details on the number of casualties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Ethiopian Airlines staff will be sent to the accident scene and will do everything possible to assist the emergency services,&#8221; the airline added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First word of the crash came on Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed&#8217;s Twitter account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He tweeted his &#8220;deepest condolences to the families of those that have lost their loved ones&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>BBC<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 passenger jet has crashed on a flight from Addis Ababa to Nairobi.
