With\nthe Tourism Industry undoubtedly cementing its position as the most important\nsector of the economy, Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has identified key international\nexpos that it hopes will be instrumental in attracting more tourists to the\ncountry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\nis against this backdrop that a delegation comprising over 30 Uganda tour\noperators, led by the State Minister for Tourism, Godfrey Kiwanda and UTB\nofficials today set off for Germany to attend the ITB Berlin Tourism Expo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nannual showcase slated for March 6 \u2013 9, 2019 at the Messe in Berlin is the\nWorld\u2019s Leading Travel Trade Show for every international expert in the tourism\nindustry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lilly\nAjarova, the Chief Executive Officer, UTB explained that the expo is a huge\nopportunity for Uganda tour operators to attract new business given the high profile\nas well as large number of participants that grace the event every year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cITB\nis without a doubt of invaluable importance to Uganda given that Germany is one\nof our top source markets. We believe that at this expo, our tour operators\nwill be able to get bookings as well as get connections to new markets.\nExhibitor satisfaction at ITB over the years has stood at over 90%, which is a\nsign of effective delivery on business,\u201d Ajarova said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uganda\u2019s\nstand will yet again be a star attraction given its impressive showing at the\ntwo previous editions. The country was voted 5th<\/sup> best exhibitor out\nof over 800 participants in the African category at the annual showcase in the 2017\nand 2018 expos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n This\nis a position Ajarova hopes the country will better this year given the\npreparations tour operators and the marketing board have undertaken. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The\nITB Berlin Tourism Expo is one of the world\u2019s four major international tourism\ngatherings and one of the most important to Uganda\u2019s tourism sector given that\nGermany, the host country, comes third as a source market for tourists in\nUganda annually. <\/p>\n\n\n\n According\nto ITB, more than 109,000 trade visitors and potential travelers seeking\nbusiness opportunities as well as inspiration for their next trip visited last\nyear\u2019s expo.
