The State Prosecutor, Alice Kyomuhangi, has charged Mr. Kasajja Jamirlu Kairu, former Town Clerk of Arua Municipal Council and Erejo Kamil Rajab, Principal Treasurer of Arua Municipality, with abuse of office, diversion of public resources and conspiracy to defraud. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Kasajja Mamirlu Kairu is currently Town Clerk Kapchorwa Municipal Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\ncharges were preferred on the two officials this morning by the Grade One\nMagistrate of the Anti-Corruption Unit Court in at Kololo in Kampala by Mr\nMoses Nabendo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According\nto the charge sheet, Kasajja Jamirlu Kairu and Erejo Kamil Rajab and others still at large, during\nfinancial year 2017\/2018, at Arua Municipal Council in Arua District, being\nemployees in the Council as Town Clerk and Principal Treasurer respectively,\nabused the authority of their respective offices and carried out an arbitrary\nact prejudicial to the interest of their employer by wittingly processing and converted\nShs.436,447,000 meant for road works to pay individual officers\u2019 allowances. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nprosecutor said that investigations are on-going to find out the details of the\noffences brought against the 2 public officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The accused applied for a bail and each suspect was required by the Court to pay Shs.35 million Cash and their sureties were bonded for Shs.5oo million not in cash. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
