{"id":7735,"date":"2019-01-23T09:36:33","date_gmt":"2019-01-23T06:36:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=7735"},"modified":"2019-01-23T09:36:37","modified_gmt":"2019-01-23T06:36:37","slug":"makerere-administration-looks-into-strategies-to-end-strikes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2019\/01\/23\/makerere-administration-looks-into-strategies-to-end-strikes\/","title":{"rendered":"Makerere Administration Looks Into Strategies To End Strikes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As strikes continue at Makerere University, on\nTuesday 22<sup>nd<\/sup> January 2019 some lecturer rooms were seen locked,\nstudents hanging around the University, two to three students found in the lecture\nrooms however, time table is well displayed indicating that lectures are\nsupposed to be on going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Makerere University Academic Staff Committee has\nstarted designing strategies on how to resolve and end strikes at the University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The University administration has started meeting\nsome of the lecturers on strike so that the current situation is restored at\nthe University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Kiggundu Muhammad the current and the acting University\nPublic Relations officer said the University needs to engage all the parties on\nstrike to ensure the smooth running and for lectures to continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We need engagement and listen to each other\nto put the university in order,&#8221; he explained<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile Dr Edward Mwavu, Vice Chairperson Makerere\nUniversity Staff Association said that the strike will continue even as University\nholds talks with University management<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;There are various reasons for the lectures\nnot to take place. You are well aware that we have laid down our tools.
