{"id":7705,"date":"2019-01-22T08:14:35","date_gmt":"2019-01-22T05:14:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=7705"},"modified":"2019-01-22T08:14:39","modified_gmt":"2019-01-22T05:14:39","slug":"zaake-blasts-police-for-accepting-to-be-used-by-freeman-kiyimba","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2019\/01\/22\/zaake-blasts-police-for-accepting-to-be-used-by-freeman-kiyimba\/","title":{"rendered":"Zaake Blasts Police For Accepting To Be Used By Freeman Kiyimba"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Mityana\nMunicipality Member of Parliament, Hon Francis Zaake has on Monday 21<sup>st<\/sup>\nJanuary 2019 blasted Uganda Police for accepting to be used by people with\nselfish interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This\nfollowed the arrest of his own father, Mr. Emmy Ssembusi Butebi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr\nButebi was summoned to the police over allegations that he has been threatening\na city tycoon Simon Kiyimba Freeman through sending mysterious messages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According\nto the family members, among the people that Police apprehended are Ronald Kivumbi\nand Fred Kasaalu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Legislator\nFrancis Zaake through his social media Platforms accused police of being used\nby individuals with selfish motives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nobert\nOchom Wamala, the region police spokesperson confirmed the arrest of those businessmen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile\nUganda Police Spokesperson CP Fred Enanga said that Kiyimba filed a case at the\nCriminal Investigations Directorate (CID) headquarters in Kibuli alleging that\nMr Butebi has been using his associates to send him threatening messages and\ncalls. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fred\nEnanga further added Police Flying Squad tracked the source of the messages\nafter Kiyimba reported the case to CID leading to the apprehension of two\npeople.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suspects\nwho are under police custody are Saul Mayanja and Fred Kasaalu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enanga\nsaid that the others that have been summoned alongside Mr Butebi include Mr\nDaudi Malagala, the head of Mbwa clan, Mr Fred Nkuubi, Mr Godfrey Buwembo, Mr\nDavid Kateeka and Mr Ronald Kivumbi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\ndid not just light blow on these people. Our FSU team tracked the owners of the\nphones and they were arrested and they are currently under our custody. No one\nhas immunity. Being summoned by police does not mean you have committed an\noffence, but you are suspected to have committed a crime,\u201d Mr Enanga said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Below\nis MP Zaake\u2019s Statement on the Arrest of his people<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On\nFriday, two businessmen in Mityana Municipality were arrested by the\nex-commandant of flying squad SSP Kakonge Peter who also summoned many other\ntraders within Mityana Municipality including my Father, Mr. Emmy Ssembusi Butebi\nto appear before him and record statements about the alleged threatening of\nviolence against the person of John Kiyimba Fred alias Kiyimba Freeman. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\nknow it for a fact that these are business battles, and it&#8217;s not by surprise\nthat some elements within Uganda Police are being used by one individual to\nfight his battles by suppressing the rights and freedoms of others but we are\nwarning them to desist from such acts otherwise the law will shape them to\norder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So\nfar, we have contacted Police to ascertain the whereabouts of the arrested two\nbut until now no pronouncement has been made about the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The arrested are Mr. Mayanja Saul and Mr. Kasaalu Fred, we do task Police to immediately release the two because they are being detained illegally as per the dictates of the law stipulating the time within which suspects are to leave Police custody. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We demand that they be produced before the court of law rather than keeping them incommunicado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\nhave already embarked on a legal process through our lawyers to bring justice\nto the persecuted businessmen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>#TuliyambalaEngule<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>#GetYourNationalID<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>#People_Power<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament, Hon Francis Zaake has on Monday 21st January 2019 blasted Uganda Police for accepting to be used by people with selfish interest.
