The\nUganda Examinations Board is withholding results of 3,500 pupils who sat for\nthe 2018 national exams, over exam malpractices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This\nwas revealed by the UNEB Executive Secretary Dr Daniel Odong during the release\nof Primary Leaving Examinations at the office of prime minister in Kampala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nstated that although the examinations were conducted smoothly in most parts of\nthe country, some cases of malpractices were cited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nfurther explained that this was mainly facilitated by third parties who helped\ncandidates inside examination rooms by writing exams on the chalkboard and on\npapers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nstated that security forces that were selected from police, the army, among\nother agencies nabbed teachers red handed in some schools like Bundimulinga\nPrimary School, Bubanda Primary School, Bundikahungu Primary School, Clever\nOrigin Primary School in Bundibugyo District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nsaid some parents and guardians in the affected schools also willingly\nparticipated in helping pupils in answering exams by paying some amount of\nmoney that’s Shs50,000 each to facilitate the malpractice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr\nOdong said the cases await court action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He,\nhowever, said that all candidates whose results have been withheld will be\naccorded to a fair hearing by UNEB’s Security Committee before final action is\ntaken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chairperson\nUNEB Prof Okwakol also added her voice on the same issue of malpractices in\nschools that teachers have continued to help pupils cheat exams despite strict\nrules and regulations employed by examination body. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
However,\nMary applauded individuals who provided information that enabled in the\nidentification and apprehension of the people who did get involved in\nexamination malpractices <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\nsays Uganda National Examination Board is working on a policy to handle\nExamination malpractices and legal procedures to handle such cases.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
