Dr Stella Nyanzi appeared before Buganda Road\ncourt on Thursday and told Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu that prison health\nauthorities do not believe she suffered miscarriage while in jail and asked for\nher intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In her\nplea, Dr Stella Nyanzi through her lawyer Isaac Ssemakadde asked for time to\nseek for medical attention from her private doctor however prison authorities\nhad declined to release her medical records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This sparked of an exchange in court between\nlawyer Isaac Ssemakadde and the Magistrate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ssemakadde accused the Magistrate of being\ninsensitive to the needs of a fellow woman and human rights at large. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Magistrate later warned lawyer Ssemakadde to\ntame his behaviour in the court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Magistrate declined to hear the application\ninsisting that it must be presented in written form with relevant documents\nattached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Frank Baine, the spokesperson Uganda Prison\nService explained that prison authorities were aware of her medical condition\nand couldn’t reveal what it was in line with the policy of doctor- patient\nconfidentiality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We feel she is not in any danger in case\nthere is any person concern with having those medical records, the best place\nis court,” Frank explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
