Kampala\nLord mayor, Elias Lukwago said he will soon begin an exercise to screen and\naudit the manner in which KCCA employees were recruited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We\nwant to see how to address the crisis in staff area and public service,”\nhe explained<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nLord mayor was responding to the report by KCCA Public Accounts Committee which\nbrought light to multiple cases of irregular recruitment of the employees at the\nauthority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report points out that the authority has\n1133 staff of whom 742 were irregularly employed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“There\nwere no adverts for positions, there was no application letters in the file, job\ndescriptions we’re not provided.” he added<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lord\nMayor also called upon the appointing authority to appoint a substantial KCCA\ndirector in the acting capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However,\nKCCA spokesperson Peter Kaujju maintains that there are no irregularities in\nthe employment process at KCCA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“KCCA\nhas been in place for seven years and eight months and the agency that does recruitment\nfor the institution is public service,” he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nLord Mayor also raised concerns about the KCCA head of security; he wants him\nto be drawn from KCCA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nLord Mayor and Opposition Shadow Minister of Kampala, Betty Nambooze also\nunveiled some proposals for improving the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\ntwo were critical of Kampala Minister, Betty Kamya who they claim has given\nherself more powers that she is not entitled to including the appointment of\nKCCA head.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
