{"id":7492,"date":"2019-01-09T11:05:55","date_gmt":"2019-01-09T08:05:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=7492"},"modified":"2019-01-09T11:11:37","modified_gmt":"2019-01-09T08:11:37","slug":"flying-squad-intelligence-chiefs-charged","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2019\/01\/09\/flying-squad-intelligence-chiefs-charged\/","title":{"rendered":"Flying Squad &#038; Intelligence Chiefs Charged"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The\ngeneral court martial has preferred charges against several police officers related\nto the kidnap and repatriation of random refugees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\ncharged officers include Herbart Muhangi the former commander of Uganda Police&#8217;s\nFlying Squad, Colonel Ndahura Atwooki former Director of Crime Intelligence and\nthe former Special Operation Unit Commander Nixon Agasirwe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They\npleaded not guilty to the offence that the prosecution says were committed\nbetween 2012 and 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They\nwere charged together with the former Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura\nwho was absent in the court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They\nwere accused of aiding and abetting the kidnap of Rwandan refugees and\nrepatriation of random refugees back to Rwanda against their will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nofficers were also charged with failure to protect war materials when they\nissued firearms and ammunition to unauthorized persons which included member of\nBoda Boda 2010 boss a one Abdallah Kitatta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This\ngroup is also accused of failure to supervise and ensure accountability for\narms and ammunition issued to specialised units under the office of Inspector General\nof Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other\nunits include Flying Squad unit, Witness Protection unit and the Crime\nIntelligence Directorate of Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lieutenant\nGeneral Andrew Gutti, the Chairman of the General Court Martial remanded them\nback to Makindye military barracks where they already spent several months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They\nwill reappear in court on 11<sup>th<\/sup> February, 2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The general court martial has preferred charges against several police officers related to the kidnap and repatriation of random refugees.
