Kampala\nMetropolitan traffic police has issued the traffic guidelines ahead of new year\ncelebrations for motorists who intend to use some of the major routes in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nmain purpose of the guidelines to allow smooth flow of traffic and to curb\ncongestion in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In\na statement issued by Kampala Metropolitan Traffic Police commander Norman\nMusinga, he urged the general members of the public to use public means of\ntransportation to reduce on congestion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According\nto the guidelines, motorists with stickers will access Sheraton hotel through\nTernan Avenue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There\nwill be no parking along Nile Avenue, Speke road, Ternan Avenue, Sezibwa road, Kintu\nroad, UBC road and high court round about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police\nsay any motor vehicle abandoned around those mentioned places will be towed to\nNaguru main police station at owner’s risks and expenses<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“There\nwill be restricted access to Kololo Ceremonial grounds, Namboole National stadium\nand Lubiri, ” the statement reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Afande\nNorman also said traffic police will be deployed to ensure that there is smooth\nflow of traffic in these areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police\ncautioned motorists from being overtaken by excitement during this period but\nfollow the traffic guidelines to avoid inconveniences<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The\ngeneral public should avoid burning tyres on the road and this will affect\nnormal traffic flow” police added in the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police\nsaid all those who contravene the traffic rules and regulations will be dealt\nwith in accordance with traffic rules and regulations 1998.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
