Uganda debt network is now calling for strict enforcement for public service standing order which provides guidelines on the acquisition, usage and maintenance andboarding of government fleets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Patrick Tumwebaze, Executive Director, Uganda debt network, the cabinet minister should have 20L engine but on the roads, you find the V8s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imelda Namagga, head of policy analysis Uganda debt network said that they want government to put hotline where the public can be able to call and report such cases of misuse of public assets more especially the vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Uganda debt network also shared its findings on fleet operations of selected ministries, agencies and departments of government <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Ministry of health has about 350 vehicles and 59 motorcycles of which the cost of servicing those vehicles is about Shs95billion annually,” Patrick Tumwebaze said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
