<\/p>\nPresident Yoweri Museveni has pledged Shs500million towards All Saints\u2019 New Cathedral construction project.<\/p>\n
The Cathedral is seat of the Anglican Diocese of Kampala.<\/p>\n
The President, who joined Christians at the Cathedral in a fundraising\u00a0\u00a0 service, also visited the new Cathedral construction site and gave Shs50million in cash.<\/p>\n
He congratulated the Christians for having considered the\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0expansion of the existing Cathedral structure. Parliamentary Speaker, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga and Minister for Kampala City Authority, Hon. Betty Kamya,\u00a0 among other dignitaries, attended the function.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cI congratulate you for being convicted to build a bigger house for the Lord. \u00a0\u00a0The church is unique and nearing completion,\u201d he observed.<\/p>\n
The President urged educated Christians to think of ways of developing the \u00a0\u00a0country and asked them to teach poor Christians how to work.<\/p>\n
He added that by doing this, they would be following the example of Christ who was a \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0carpenter, fed the hungry, preached the Word and healed the sick.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo build this church, it would be easy if all the Christians were following \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0what Jesus did.<\/p>\n
“If all Christians worked, this place would be built. You \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Christians must wake up those who are sleeping. Every learned Christian mustcarry out commercial agriculture, or be in services, embrace ICT and utilize\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 infrastructure.<\/p>\n
“Ask yourself, how are you, as a Christian contributing to any \u00a0of the four?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n
The President was happy to note that it was the Revival Movement that had \u00a0\u00a0instilled discipline in people in his home area of Ankole.<\/p>\n
He advised\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Christians to refrain from the \u2018escapist’ attitude of saying that they are mere \u00a0\u00a0visitors on earth and so everything on earth was dust.<\/p>\n
He reiterated that this\u00a0 encourages them to run away from their responsibilities of working and \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0developing the country.<\/p>\n
He further said that Christians must love without selfishness and refrain from \u00a0doing evil as the commandment was given to them by Jesus.<\/p>\n
\u2018Love the Lord your God with all your heart and love your neighbor as you \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0love your self,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Church of Uganda Archbishop, the Most Rev. Stanley Ntagali thanked the \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0President for his support, partnership and friendship to the Church of Uganda.<\/p>\n
He expressed gratitude for the President\u2019s previous contribution of Shs50million towards phase 1 of the Cathedral\u2019s building project.<\/p>\n
\u201cI particularly welcome His Excellency who is our parishioner and a neighbor tothe Cathedral. Thank you for visiting the new site. The church is grateful for \u00a0your continued support towards the people of Uganda,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He explained that the church had embarked on a new building project because they had a challenge of space constraints that could not accommodate the ever growing church members.<\/p>\n
He added that new church would be able to seat\u00a0\u00a0 5000 people per service, have adequate space for offices and considerable \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0public space.<\/p>\n
He revealed that they hope to relocate to the new church building by\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Christmas this year.<\/p>\n
