Minister Of Ethics and Integrity, Fr Simon Lokodo has cancelled the most anticipated Nyege Ntege festival that was slated for this weekend at Nile Discovery in Jinja.<\/p>\n
Lokodo argues that the festival promotes sexuality, drug abuse and homosexuality.<\/p>\n
“There will be nudity and sexuality done at any time of the hour. There will be open sex. The very name of the festival is provocative. It means \u201csex, sex\u201d or urge for sex. We have been informed it\u2019s taking place near Owen Fall\u2019s dam. This brings uncertainty & fear,” said Lokodo while addresing the Media today evening at Uganda Media Center.<\/p>\n
He added that;”MTN Nyege Nyege was sponsored by @bell_lager last year. It\u2019s a three day event. They made the cost rise of the ticket to Shs150,000. The activity will be covered by alcohol and music. There will be drugs, toxicants not accepted by this country.”<\/p>\n
“There is a dark stage organised where some of the best electronic artists are lined up. It\u2019ll attract tropical, international and local artists. It\u2019s expected that the place will have 10,000 people MTN Nyege Nyege.”<\/p>\n
“The person organising this event is a foreigner and his stay in Uganda will be affected by this event. We weighed and thought that the society will be affected by the @mtnug\u2019s MTN Nyege Nyege. This is close to devil worshiping and not acceptable.”<\/p>\n
“We have information that open sex, noise, homosexuality, LGBTI will be part of this event. MTN Nyege Nyege will not be accepted because these people will be openly saying such statuses. This year, it will not take place.”<\/p>\n
“I wanted Nyege Nyege cancelled last year but they escaped. Ministry Foreign Affairs is not aware of their activities and this should be a security issue. It is the organisers of Nyege Nyege Fest that didn\u2019t come to us for clarification.”<\/p>\n
“This ugly thing called MTN Nyege Nyege is not taking place this year. We have already evaluated how much losses will come. We shall save the image of this country but not allow this to take place for the 2 days and 1 night.”<\/p>\n
“Let foreigners not come to Uganda for sex. If you are coming for sexual reasons worse still homosexuality & LGBTQ, stay away. On that basis, MTN Nyege Nyege is cancelled.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
