{"id":5174,"date":"2018-08-08T18:39:36","date_gmt":"2018-08-08T15:39:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=5174"},"modified":"2018-08-08T18:39:36","modified_gmt":"2018-08-08T15:39:36","slug":"uganda-gets-assembling-plant-for-military-vehicles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2018\/08\/08\/uganda-gets-assembling-plant-for-military-vehicles\/","title":{"rendered":"Uganda Gets Assembling Plant for Military Vehicles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Yoweri Museveni and Commander-in-Chief of the Uganda Armed Forces, has commissioned the Nyoka Military Conversion facility at Magamaga military barracks in Jinja District.<\/p>\n<p>The project that has been ongoing for the last 6 years consists of the manufacturing and assembling of military Nyoka 4&#215;4 mine and ballistic protected vehicles in Uganda as a cost-effective option for urban and rural operations by the Uganda People\u2019s Defence Forces (UPDF).<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5176 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Nyoka8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"641\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Nyoka8.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Nyoka8-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Nyoka8-768x481.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Nyoka8-671x420.jpg 671w, https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Nyoka8-640x401.jpg 640w, https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Nyoka8-681x426.jpg 681w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A South African company known as Impala Services and Logistics, which got a contract with the Ministry of Defence to start the manufacturing and assembling of the vehicles, is at the helm of the project.<\/p>\n<p>After touring the facility today, President Museveni saluted the UPDF for exhibiting self-reliance, a quality that all Africans need.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfricans have slept for the last 500 years. It is a long time and I am very glad to see that you are waking up a little bit and I am here to congratulate you. What is crucial is overcoming the psychological barrier of helplessness. This is just the beginning. He was a cadre of the ANC and joined the South African Army but later retired. His partnering with us is ideological,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>The Chief of the Defense Forces, Gen. David Muhoozi thanked the President for his guidance on the importance of capacity building and self-reliance.
