At least 30 vehicles have been impounded in a joint operation by the Uganda Police Force and Military Police targeting motorists accused of violating traffic laws in and around Kampala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The security agencies said the ongoing operations are aimed at enforcing discipline and restoring order on the city\u2019s roads, with officers targeting vehicles and motorists found engaging in various traffic offences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the authorities, the impounded vehicles include those operating without number plates, fitted with illegal sirens and flashing lights, using concealed number plates, as well as vehicles whose drivers have been involved in reckless driving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The authorities said the crackdown is being conducted in accordance with the law and will continue as security agencies intensify efforts to address traffic indiscipline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\u201cThe operations will continue until sanity and discipline are restored on our roads,\u201d the authorities said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Drivers of the impounded vehicles are expected to appear before courts of law to answer charges arising from the alleged traffic violations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The joint deployment of the Police and Military Police comes amid continued concerns over road safety and motorists who modify vehicles with unauthorised warning equipment or deliberately obscure their registration numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The security agencies have urged members of the public to cooperate with officers conducting the operations and ensure that their vehicles comply with traffic laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Motorists have also been encouraged to carry the required vehicle documentation, display valid number plates properly and avoid reckless driving that could endanger other road users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
