{"id":43642,"date":"2026-09-08T12:16:00","date_gmt":"2026-09-08T09:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=43642"},"modified":"2026-09-08T12:16:05","modified_gmt":"2026-09-08T09:16:05","slug":"police-arrest-four-over-shs1-billion-kampala-robbery-spree","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2026\/09\/08\/police-arrest-four-over-shs1-billion-kampala-robbery-spree\/","title":{"rendered":"Police Arrest Four Over Shs1 Billion Kampala Robbery Spree"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police in Kampala have arrested four suspects believed to be part of a criminal gang accused of carrying out a series of robberies in different parts of the Kampala Metropolitan area, with approximately Shs1 billion reportedly stolen in the alleged attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The suspects were arrested following investigations led by the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) Criminal Investigations Department (CID) into a group accused of using pangas and other weapons to terrorise members of the public and rob them of money and other valuables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the KMP deputy spokesperson, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, detectives have been working around the clock to identify and apprehend members of the suspected gang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Owoyesigyire said the operation was led by the KMP CID Commander, Birungi Beigumamu Milton, whose team has been pursuing leads linking the suspects to the robbery incidents reported in various parts of the metropolitan area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe suspects are part of a group accused of using pangas and other weapons to terrorise the public and rob them of their money in different parts of the Kampala Metropolitan area,\u201d Owoyesigyire said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The arrests mark a significant development in the police investigation into the alleged robbery network, which is believed to have accumulated about Shs1 billion through the reported criminal activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police have not yet disclosed the identities of the suspects or provided a detailed breakdown of the individual robbery incidents that investigators have linked to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The suspects are expected to be presented before Mwanga II Chief Magistrates Court today, where they will face charges arising from the ongoing investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their appearance before court is expected to provide the next step in the legal process as investigators continue to establish the full extent of the alleged criminal operation and determine whether additional suspects could be implicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The arrest also comes amid continued police efforts to crack down on violent robbery and other forms of organised crime within Kampala and its surrounding metropolitan districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police detectives are expected to continue examining evidence gathered during the investigation, including information that could help establish the suspects&#8217; alleged roles in the robberies and identify other members of the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authorities have repeatedly urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies, particularly incidents involving individuals armed with weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The four suspects will remain subject to the judicial process, and the allegations against them will be tested in court.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Police in Kampala have arrested four suspects believed to be part of a criminal gang accused of carrying out a series of robberies in different parts of the Kampala Metropolitan area, with approximately Shs1 billion reportedly stolen in the alleged attacks.
