MTN Uganda Board Chairman Charles Mbire has paid tribute to the late King of Tooro, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, describing his passing as a great loss to the Kingdom of Tooro and the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Mbire visited the King\u2019s residence in Buziga, Kampala, on Thursday to pay his respects to the royal family and the people of Tooro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOn behalf of the MTN Uganda Board, management and staff, I extend our deepest condolences to the royal family, the people of Tooro and all Ugandans. King Oyo diligently carried the hopes of his people, and his passing is a great loss to the nation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
MTN Uganda has worked closely with Tooro Kingdom under the stewardship of King Oyo, supporting initiatives in youth, sports, health, education and community development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This partnership with the Kingdom of Tooro reflects MTN Uganda\u2019s commitment to working with cultural institutions to advance inclusion, talent development and progress in communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Mbire announced that MTN Uganda will be contributing Ush 100m through the National Organizing Committee, to support preparations for the King\u2019s interment.
