Bold Fashion Week\u00a0has concluded its inaugural edition in Kampala, bringing together\u00a0320 guests, designers and media representatives\u00a0for three days of runway presentations, creative exchange and commerce at MoTIV Bugolobi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Held from\u00a0August 20 to 22, 2026, and organised by\u00a0Bold in Africa and Malembe Lifestyle, the event marked 14 years of Bold in Africa\u2019s commitment to developing and championing African design talent. The inaugural edition featured\u00a010 designers from Uganda and Nigeria, bringing together emerging brands, fashion professionals, media and consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bold in Africa co-founder\u00a0Nunu Mugyenyi\u00a0said the event was created to give African designers greater visibility while strengthening connections between fashion talent and consumers. The successful debut demonstrated Kampala\u2019s potential as an emerging destination for African fashion and creative enterprise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The runway featured Ugandan designers\u00a0Axarya, Discreet Leather, Good Fibre, Joan Jade, Kifahari, Kwesh, Lamara, Ofumbi and Shurea Yasmin, alongside Nigerian designer\u00a0Yemi Shoyemi. Their collections explored African heritage, contemporary identity, craftsmanship and modern design, highlighting the depth and diversity of fashion talent across the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme extended beyond the runway with a\u00a0public market day on August 23, held in partnership with the\u00a0Kampala Artisan Market. Consumers were able to meet designers, experience their collections and purchase directly from participating brands, creating a stronger connection between African design and the local market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was great to see the designers on the runway and then be able to shop their collections the next day,\u201d\u00a0said one\u00a0Bold Fashion Week attendee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was supported by\u00a0Johnnie Walker Uganda, I&M Bank Uganda, British Council Uganda, Agile Media and Fenon, with\u00a0Drynq Coffee\u00a0as a collaborator.\u00a0Joram Model Management\u00a0contributed to show production, model management and backstage coordination, while\u00a0Mona Faces\u00a0and\u00a0Hair by Zziwa\u00a0supported the runway\u2019s beauty and hair direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in\u00a02012, Bold in Africa is a retail incubator and fashion platform dedicated to helping emerging African labels develop into sustainable, globally competitive businesses through mentorship, retail opportunities and market access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
