President Yoweri Museveni has spotlighted Uganda\u2019s growing gold refining industry, revealing new details about the country\u2019s mineral value-addition strategy while displaying a gold bar he says was refined locally to near-perfect purity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a post shared on his official X account, Museveni said he was pictured with Mr. Cohen Carlos, the proprietor of Feldstein Co. Ltd., a Kampala-based gold refinery that he says refines Ugandan gold to a purity level of 99.9 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President further noted that global gold prices have recently fluctuated significantly, stating that gold which had been trading at around USD 173,000 per kilogram had dropped to approximately USD 129,000 per kilogram following geopolitical instability linked to conflict in the Gulf of Persia region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn the picture, I am with Mr. Cohen Carlos, who owns Feldstein Co. Ltd., a gold refinery in Kampala. It refines Uganda\u2019s gold to a purity level of 99.9%,\u201d Museveni wrote. \u201cOn account of the war in the Gulf of Persia, the price is now USD 129,000. This particular one and a half kilograms of gold that I am holding is from Ibanda.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
