Residents across several parts of Kampala, Mukono and Wakiso districts are facing prolonged water supply interruptions after heavy overnight rains delayed ongoing system upgrade and maintenance works at the Katosi Water Treatment Plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an update issued on Thursday, the water utility said the downpour in Katosi disrupted scheduled works being carried out by specialist engineers at the treatment facility, slowing efforts to restore normal water supply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The utility explained that teams remained on the ground working to overcome the setback and resume supply as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Areas affected by the disruption include Katosi, Kisoga, Mukono, Seeta, Mbalala, Namugongo, Namanve, Sonde, parts of Kireka, Kamuli, Kyaliwajala, Bulindo, Nsasa, Mulawa, Naalya, Ntinda, Kisaasi, Najeera, Luteete, Gayaza, parts of Kamwokya, parts of Mbuya and surrounding neighborhoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The interruption has left thousands of households and businesses relying on stored water reserves as engineers race against time to complete the upgrade works and stabilize the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials urged customers in the affected areas to use the available water sparingly during the downtime to help manage the shortage until supply is fully restored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Katosi Water Treatment Plant is one of the key facilities supplying water to the greater Kampala metropolitan area, and any interruption at the plant often affects a wide network of residential, commercial and industrial consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ongoing works are part of routine maintenance and system upgrades aimed at improving efficiency and reliability of water distribution in the rapidly growing urban corridor stretching from Mukono to Kampala and Wakiso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
