The Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in Beijing has participated in the Henan Culture and Tourism Industry Expo (CTIC) 2026, using the international platform to market Uganda\u2019s tourism attractions, cultural heritage, and investment opportunities to the Chinese market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The six-day Expo, held from May 18 to 23 in Henan Province, China, attracted more than 60,000 attendees and over 10,000 exhibitors drawn from the global tourism, hospitality, transportation, and cultural industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uganda\u2019s delegation was led by Ambassador Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Geoffrey Muheesi Baraba, the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy in Beijing, who held engagements with tourism stakeholders, exhibitors, and business representatives during the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Expo featured a wide range of tourism innovations and investment opportunities, including transportation solutions, hospitality services, cultural artifacts, crafts, and showcases of tourism destinations from different countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking during the event, Ambassador Baraba reaffirmed Uganda\u2019s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with China in tourism, culture, trade, and investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He highlighted Uganda\u2019s unique tourism offerings, including its rich cultural diversity, wildlife attractions, and favorable investment climate, while encouraging Chinese tourists and investors to explore opportunities in the East African nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Embassy said its participation at the Expo was aimed at enhancing Uganda\u2019s visibility as a competitive tourism and investment destination, while also creating new avenues for international cooperation and partnerships in the tourism sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials noted that the event provided an important networking platform for engaging global industry players and promoting Uganda\u2019s cultural heritage on the international stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
China remains one of Uganda\u2019s key strategic partners in trade, infrastructure development, tourism, and investment, with Kampala increasingly seeking to attract more Chinese tourists and investors as part of efforts to grow the country\u2019s tourism revenues and international profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
