Uganda has earned global recognition after one of its diplomats, Rashid Yahya Ssemuddu, was named among the winners of the prestigious Distinguished Alumni Award by the Islamic University of Madinah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The award was presented during the institution\u2019s 62nd graduation ceremony held on April 27, 2026, under the patronage of Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in Madinah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Ssemuddu, Uganda\u2019s Ambassador to Sudan, received the Social Impact Award, one of the top honours granted to alumni who have made significant contributions to society through humanitarian work, community service, and volunteerism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to organisers, the Ugandan diplomat was selected from a pool of more than 150,000 alumni worldwide, placing him among a select group of recipients from countries including France, United Kingdom, Philippines, Suriname, and S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The recognition highlights Dr. Ssemuddu\u2019s achievements in academic excellence, da\u2019wah work, and his commitment to advancing education and social welfare initiatives both in Uganda and abroad. It also underscores his role in representing Uganda on the global stage through diplomacy and humanitarian advocacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other award categories at the ceremony included Professional Achievement and Sustainable Development, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Scientific Impact, and Intellectual Awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the accolade as a proud moment for Uganda, noting that it reflects the country\u2019s growing influence in global scholarship, leadership, and service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The honour is expected to boost Uganda\u2019s international profile, showcasing the country\u2019s contributions to diplomacy, education, and community development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
