A man accused of attempting to extort money by fabricating a murder plot has been arraigned before the Nakawa Chief Magistrate\u2019s Court and remanded until April 30, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The suspect, identified as Kizito Ronald, was on Monday presented in court following a joint operation by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the Criminal Investigations Directorate, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prosecution alleges that in February 2026, Kizito reported to police at Kira Police Station that he had been contracted by one Robert Mugimba to kill Mugimba\u2019s wife. The shocking claim triggered concern and potential criminal investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, authorities say that in March 2026, Kizito backtracked on his earlier statement, admitting that the allegations were false. He is accused of then turning the situation into an extortion scheme by demanding UGX 4 million from Mugimba in exchange for retracting the fabricated claims.<\/p>\n\n\n

Kizito was remanded to custody until April 30, 2026, as investigations continue and the case comes up for further mention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities have warned the public against making false reports to law enforcement agencies, noting that such actions not only waste valuable investigative resources but can also lead to serious criminal charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
